a.café is a sophisticated take on a European-style café and espresso bar, serving artisan coffees, organic loose-leaf teas, breakfast, and lunch.
The café offers a superb menu created by Chef Anton Nocito, an alumnus of Danny Meyer’s kitchens, and emphasizes local, farm-to-table ingredients and healthy options, with frequent seasonal updates. With warm service managed by Kamal Ahmed, a front-of-the-house veteran formerly with Mario Batali’s group, the café is a welcoming daytime stop.
Breakfast selections include: orange and grapefruit salad brulée with local honey; scrambled eggs and Catsmo’s smoked salmon with farro salad; and Sardinian sheep’s milk ricotta with honey, marmalade, and Sullivan Street ciabatta. For Lunch: roasted chicken breast sandwich with watercress, avocado, and spicy red pepper aioli; smoked trout salad, watercress, quince carpaccio, and pickled red onions; four-cheese baked raditori with shallots and herbs.
The café serves single-estate, direct-trade organic coffees from elite roaster Counter Culture Coffee, including single-origin varieties brewed one cup at a time in the modern Clover Vacuum Press. Passionate baristas hand-craft espresso drinks and finish them with Hudson Valley Coop milk. Pastries and breads from Sullivan Street Bakery are available every day.
